Pros: Very Clean, Deep, powerful bass for music and movies. Performs much better than more expensive units. Looks great and blended well with my def-tech speakers and Yamaha RX-V663.
Cons: Nothing major. Definitely needs time to break in. Seemed underpowered until it ran for a while( 10+ hours) and I got the placement in the room perfect. Some distortion at very high volumes but really no different than other brands.
I listened at my local retailers to a lot of other high end subs such as def-tech, martin logan, B&W, Polk, velodyne and klipsch. I brought the same music and movies with me to each listening session and quickly found out that most subs could perform reasonably well for movies but would fail horribly when listening to music. I liked the sound of the Energy ESW-C10 the best. Only complaint about the ESW-C10 was that it seemed a little under powered and started distorting around 1/2 to 3/4 volume .
Reviews for Energy VSW10 10" 300W Veritas Series subwoofer (Electronics) I was initially interested in the Energy ESW-C10 sub and was waiting for it to go on sale. When I happened to see Energy's top of the line go on sale for the same price I couldn't resist and I'm very happy I made the jump.
Fit and Finish: When I first pulled it out of the box I could not believe how nice this sub looks! It has a very high gloss black finish that just has to be seen to be appreciated. Even my wife was impressed. She will now let me place it wherever I want!
Sound Quality: I primarily listen to music and at first this sub overpowered my speakers. After adjusting the output and placement (which took some time) I was just awed at the enhancement to all of my music. I found the easiest way for me to correct the output was to start with easy listening music and adjust until it sounded natural. When I play heavy bass music I hear and feel lows that I couldn't before. The lows are tight yet powerful. The first movie I tried was "Band of Brothers" in DTS-Master Audio and the bombs now feel real!
I highly recommend this subwoofer if you enjoy clean powerful bass in your music and movies.

It is really too bad that this veritas line did not take off the way it should have. I currently have the VSW-10 sub and the veritas 5.1 bookshelf speakers. These only became available to me because of the huge price drop across the veritas line. I have tried a variety of other subs on the market and nothing can compare to the elegance, power, and value that this sub offers. Combine it with the matching speakers and you will be blown away at how good music and movies can sound. As the other reviewers have said it takes a little time to break in but it is a treat along the way. With each day that passes and you use the sub, you will swear it sounds better and better. For the build quality and performance they should easily get double for this line of products. Im a life-long Energy consumer after these outstanding performers. I encourage you to try it out, for the price it would not be that big of a risk. I can't wait to add more veritas speakers to my system to get up to 7.1 eventually. Easily the cleanest sounding, most powerful bass I have heard.
